meetup #3 wrap – Its happening in the cloud

@SCtechhub meetup #3 – June 2014 with a focus on how cloud is changing tech

Dianne Mueller @pythondj, Red Hat Software Openshift Origin community manager, had many of the 35 heads in the room ready to explode (in the cloud) spinning us through how

Platform as a Service is changing the way apps are developed and deployed.  You focus on the product and let #Paas manage the infrastructure and service layers.  Huge learning moments.   You can download the OpenShift getting started e-book for free www.openshift.com/ebook/300001

MlbaXH21_400x400from Diane (@pythondj) – Here’s the @openshift slides from last night’s @SCTechHub meetup http://t.co/AknvS6264F < great to see so many new tech faces on the coast!

Derek Anderson with #openstack (open source software for building clouds) then kept heads moving and the room laughing describing the world of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).  Cattle were being provisioned and dispatched in minutes.  Not so much for pets.  Sushi, pizza, local coast brew, and conversation kept the night going till late.

Thanks to Mike Relova with Relova Holdings Ltd. for hosting @SCtechhub meetup #3 at the “Blue Cube” on Gibsons Way, Community Futures Sunshine Coast for sponsoring the food, and to the Gibsons and District Chamber of Commerce for their ongoing support and practical help making the night happen.  Back in April meetup #2 was hosted by Rapid Edge Technologies in Sechelt, and the first meetup was at Persephone Brewing in Gibsons.

Send us your feedback and ideas for future meetups.
